Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we never collect, and where your data actually lives. Last updated: August 28, 2026.
The short version
CookingMyRecipes is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts today, we run no analytics or tracking scripts, and the site sets no cookies of its own. Almost everything personal - your saved recipes, meal plan, serving sizes, theme choice - lives in your own browser and is never sent to us.
What we do not collect
We do not build profiles, we do not use analytics or fingerprinting, we do not run advertising trackers today, and we never sell or share personal data. Browsing CookingMyRecipes requires no sign-up and sends us no personal information.
Data stored on your device
Features like saved recipes, the meal planner and shopping list, remembered servings and units, cooking history and the light/dark theme use your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device, is separate on each device you use, and is deleted when you clear your browser’s site data. We cannot see it.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address (and the page you subscribed from) is processed by our email delivery provider solely to send you the newsletter. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. We never use newsletter addresses for anything else.
Comments, reviews and photos
When the community features launch, posting a review will ask for a display name (shown publicly) and an email address (kept private, used only for reply notifications and spam prevention). You will be able to request deletion of your contributions at any time.
Third-party requests
Some resources load from third parties to make the site work: recipe images are served by our content delivery network (Sanity), and fonts by Google Fonts - your IP address reaches those services when your browser fetches the files. Embedded recipe videos load only after you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode or Vimeo; until you click, nothing is loaded from them.
Hosting and technical logs
Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under their own privacy policies.
Advertising (not yet active)
There is no advertising on CookingMyRecipes today. If we introduce ads in the future, we will update this policy first and, where your region requires it, ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are set.
Accounts (not yet active)
There are no user accounts yet. If we introduce them, they will be optional - the site will stay fully usable without signing up. An account would store your email address, your sign-in credentials (handled by a dedicated authentication provider), and, if you choose to sync them, the saves and plans that currently live only on your device. Deleting your account would delete that data. This policy will be updated before accounts launch.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Most data this site uses is already under your direct control on your own device; for newsletter or community data, contact us and we will act on your request.
Children
CookingMyRecipes is a general-audience cooking site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be called out here.
